As students of Ariyakudi, we used to learn together, but we performed kutcheris as soloists. Vocalist Rajam Iyer a contemporary of KVN and a disciple of Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar told KutcheriBuzz, "I'm indeed depressed about KVN's death. Says Rama, "He is the greatest father a girl could have ever asked for." He was a nice teacher to be with who wouldn't give up even if we found it difficult to grasp something." He would never let us go until we got it right. Says Anuradha, "My father was a great teacher.very patient and persistent. Anuradha is among the prominent vocalists of today and Rama Raghunathan plays the violin. Two of his daughters, Anuradha Krishnamurthy and Rama Raghunathan took up music more seriously.
